US-Saudi Arabia Nuclear Cooperation: Next Steps

The Trump Administration sent the US-Saudi nuclear cooperation agreement package to Congress in late August. The agreement features a novel approach, designed to facilitate sensitive nuclear fuel cycle cooperation with Saudi Arabia. In particular, the United States is considering sharing uranium enrichment technology with Saudi Arabia, the very technology we have sought to destroy on Iranian territory. Contrary to President Trump's declaration that he would wait until Saudi Arabia signed the Abraham Accords, the agreement will now enter into force in roughly 90 days unless Congress acts to condition or disapprove it.
